A Message from the New Chairman – Chris Reeves
In the first message from the Chairman, Chris Reeves thanks Clive Robbins and looks to the future.
Firstly I must express huge appreciation, for the 26 years of Clive Robbins tenure, on behalf myself and of all Poole Town supporters . These years have underpinned our initial survival and subsequent climb back up to the higher echelons of the non- league game. After a successful period, I stood down from the Board after my last stint as Chairman in the mid eighties in order to give the then owner his feet, in his stated aim, to get us into the Football League.
I am afraid things did not go to plan. As most people will know, in 1991 the Club went into liquidation. I needed help from somewhere to keep the Club alive. Clive and his much missed late father Arthur, had no previous connection with non league football, let alone Poole Town. However they joined me to keep the Club going and to say that they rose to the challenge, is an understatement. The rest is history.
Changes – But No Revolution.
The change in Chairman is not the most revolutionary of changes, but I am hoping that my new role will be a catalyst for all those who care for this great Club . A chance to appreciate just what an incredible achievement it is, to have established ourselves as a National League South outfit. Established both on the field and in ground grading terms. We have a team and ground to be proud of but we have a massive task to keep all the financial balls in the air. It is a constant keep pace with our operational costs. In addition, we need to carry on paying for the upgrade of recent months. The Club needs all the help it can get to remain viable. A constant plea for funds I accept but one that just has to be repeated.
The Club need existing sponsors/advertisers to renew and of course new sponsors and advertisers to come on board. We would be grateful for any suggestions or leads. There is a new commercial manager starting this week. Jane Jones has been involved with us in the past and returns with great enthusiasm to assist us in our forward progress. contact Jane on on 07968796394, or by email on email@example.com
